Generator Load Management Systems
Load management helps a standby system control when selected high-demand equipment can run, keeping total demand within the generator's capability.
Why load management is used
A home may contain several large electrical loads that do not all need to run simultaneously. Rather than oversizing the generator solely for a rare peak condition, a compatible load-management design can prioritize or shed selected loads.
Common managed loads
Depending on the home and equipment, examples can include additional air-conditioning systems, electric water heating, pool equipment or other large loads.
Load management is part of system design
The controls must be selected and configured for the generator, transfer equipment and home's electrical system. City of Lakeland generator permit guidance also requests specifications for load-management devices when they are part of the project.
